GeoTool (Machinist CAD)
GeoTool:
Geometry and the Machinist. The program GeoTool was written to quickly Obtain the Cartesian coordinates a Machinist might need from a shop drawing. The program is designed to be easy to use so that a Machinist doesn't need to spend weeks or months to learn how to use the functions. GeoTool is not designed to be a full CAD or graphics drawing program, but is designed to be a tool used to obtain the numbers needed to enter Into the CNC or Prototrak system.
GeoTool performs the following functions, line intersection, arc intersection, line arc intersection, point tangent lines, internal tangent lines, external tangent lines, perpendicular bisector lines, angle bisector lines, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, angle measurement, circle through two points, circle through three points, arc through two points, arc through three points, rotation, x-y input, polar input, clipboard copy , load and save, zoom, misc..
The time required to obtain the coordinates needed from the average CAD program is sometimes greater than the time required to make the part. A Machinist is usually required to manufacture parts in low quantity, sometimes only one peice is required. Therefore it is essential to calculate the numbers needed for point to point machining quickly. GeoTool was written with that goal.
